Calcite: Learn about or Buy calcite crystals, blue, red, green, orange and optical crystals in a variety of price-ranges to suit your budget.
Calcite is a sedimentary mineral and one of the most widely distributed minerals in the world. It occurs as crystals, stalagtites and stalagmites in caves, in geodes and concretions, and as a petrifying material, replacing animal and plant remains to create fossils.

Calcite is the most stable form of calcium carbonate with the chemical formula CaCO3. It has many forms as individual crystals and as masses. As crystals it is commonly rhombohedral, but dog tooth calcite crystals are popular with collectors.

In nature it is used by many marine animals to build shells including snails, foraminiferons, bryozoans, and corals.
