The Rock Collections we have for sale include: Igneous, Metamorphic, and Sedimentary Rocks. They can be purchased individually or together as a set. Each set has 5 common examples of that type.
- The Igneous collections contain basalt, obsidian, rhyolite, granite and scoria.
- The Metamorphic collection contains marble, gneiss, slate, schist, and quartzite.

These rock collections are an ideal way to introduce some of the basics of the branch of geology called petrology, the study of rocks. These collections demonstrate the three types of rocks, yes there are onil three. They also serve as examples of the rock cycle, the process the Earth uses to recycle rocks from one type to another type. These principles are foundational for the young geologist.
