Graptolites

Free Shipping Free Shipping Free Shipping
Graptolites are colonial animals that lived in all of the world's oceans from the Cambrian Period until the Carboniferous Period. The specimens we have for sale are from Morocco. They are lower Ordovician in age from the Fezouata Shale of Southern Morocco in the Zagara region.
Currently we have the species Araneograptus murrayi

Comes with a display stand.
There were an abundance of graptolites during the early and middle Paleozoic Era. Because of their huge numbers, widespread distribution, and diversity of species they are used as index fossils, helping paleontologists date rock strata. The name comes from the Greek words graptos=written and lithos=stone because many species of graptolites resemble hierogliphics.
