Raptor Tooth F
Description
Raptor tooth F is about 7/8 inch long. The serrations are worn but present. There are repairs.
Look at the serrations along the edges of this tooth! Raptor teeth are serrated like steak knives and for the same reason, cutting meat! Raptor teeth were not designed as killing tools like a T-Rex for instance. Instead they were for devouring their prey, cutting off bite sized peices. The previous owner of this tooth lived in what is now the Kem Kem area of Morocco about 95 million years ago during the late Cretaceous Period.
Raptors were theropods that belonged to the family called dromaeosaurids. They were feathered carnivores. They had long stiff tails that helped them to balance when running. Raptors had a large claw on each hind foot that was probably for attacking its prey.
