Description

Phytosaurs were reptiles from the Triassic Period. They were similar to crocodiles in body shape and habits. Spending much of their time in water these extinct predators ate fish and any other animals they could catch. They were the largest hunters of their time with some species reaching a length of 40 feet. These fossils are called scutts. They are hard scally bumps that form along the back of these animals. These fossils were found in Northern Arizona. Each piece is different, and is about 1 inch across. The photo shows a sample of our inventory.
