Description
This fossilized Large gastropod Cassiope sp. is related to living gastropods of today like snails. It comes from the Cretaceous Period and is between 144 and 65 million years old. These fossil gastropods were found in Iron County, in southern Utah. They are more than 2 inches long. Gastropods can be carnivorous (meat-eaters) or herbivorous (plant eaters). Their tongue is covered with thousands of tiny teeth to tear apart food.
