Trilobites

trilobites

Trilobites were an extinct arthropod that lived in the shallow seas during the Paleozoic Era. These are from the mid Cambrian Period and are about 550 million years old. They were found in Utah in the Wheeler Shale formation. This trilobite is called El Rathia kingi. Trilobites had many legs and could roll into a ball for protection. They became extinct 250 million years ago.

trilobites

This trilobite is different from the one above because its "cheeks" are still attached.
