Orthoceras was a straight shelled nautiloid. They belong to the group of mollusks called cephalopods or head foot. Living relatives of these ancient creatures are squid and octopus. Orthoceras was a dominate predator during the Paleozoic Era. This fossil is from the Devonian Period, and is between 345 and 395 million years old. It was found in Morocco.
