These turritella fossils are agatized coquinite of the Green River Formation. This piece measures 2 1/2 inches by 3 inches and is about 2 inches thick. The fossils are from the Eocene Epoch, and are about 38 to 54 million years old. This piece was found in Wyoming. You can see in the picture several turritellas exposed. What you cannot see is that this rock is composed almost entirely of turritella shells!
