Trilobite Trace Fossils C
""There are three main types of trilobite trace fossils. They are called Rusophycus, Cruziana, and Diplichnites. Rusophycus fossils are the impressions of the trilobite's underside resting on the ocean bottom partially burried in the muck. Cruziana are trace fossils created by trilobites moving across the ocean floor partially buried. There are footprints and two parallel furrows created by the shell dragging through the mud.
These trace fossils are called Diplichnites and are created when the trilobite is walking on top of the ocean floor leaving clear footprints.
The picture is a 1 1/2 inch square close up of a matrix that is 5 inches by 3.5 inches. There are several separate sets of tracks on the shale matrix. "
